Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

He defended 4 early chances in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
